Fellowship

Fellowship

Through our fellowship programs, Ready to Launch helps expand opportunities for women to launch careers in politics and government. Our first fellowship program, our Government Fellowship, launched in 2021. We provide the training, mentorship, stipends, and other support that our fellows need to succeed.

We believe in paid work. We know that paid opportunities are essential to ensuring an equitable entry-level pipeline into government and politics. That’s why we help support stipends when needed to ensure our participants can access opportunities.

Ready to Launch Government Fellowship

In 2021 and 2022, we hosted 13 fellows across two cohorts through our government fellowship program. Each fellow participated in training and educational sessions with the Ready to Launch team and guest speakers, covering everything from Government 101 to professional writing skills. The fellows are each paired with a one-on-one mentor to offer them guidance and advice, and help them build their network.

We help each fellow identify and secure a great internship opportunity to get hands-on experience in parallel to the educational training we offer. The elected officials’ offices we’ve partnered with in the past include Congressmembers Judy Chu and Jimmy Gomez; Senator Lena Gonzalez; Assemblymembers Isaac Bryan, Mike Fong, and Adrin Nazarian; LA County Supervisors Holly Mitchell and Hilda Solis; LA Mayor Eric Garcetti, LA City Councilmember Nithya Raman; and San Fernando Councilmember Celeste Rodriguez.

“Ready to Launch is a catalyst for change and without this program, I would not have known where to begin my journey. You gave me hope, you gave me a roadmap.” - Jasmin, 2021 Ready to Launch fellow
